Peristaltic pumps are a type of positive displacement pump that can be used on a variety of fluids. The fluid is contained within a flexible tube with a rotor with a number of lobes, which compresses the tube in a rotary motion.
As the rotor turns the lobes compress the tube, forcing the fluid through the tube. As the tube decompresses, fluid is induced in the tube allowing for a smooth flow. Peristaltic pumps can be run continuously or can be indexed through partial revolutions to deliver specific volumes of fluid that is useful in industrial dosing applications.
